Futsal B 2005-2006, the first day a report by Vik While Gotham's bat-mobile was on fire and, they indeed pulverised us, Oliviero's bat-mobile was literally on fire and could not make it to the first game. We started the game with a sence of panic as we were short of players and, the Batmans, Robins and Riddle-Me-This on the other side of the court smelled blood and tore us to shreds. 8-0, until the last minute of the match when the two ikaalinen heroes present for that game, Henry and Flo, combined to slip one through. This won some pity applause from the opponent's bench and the ref shed a tear of sympathy.
The lunch break was highlighted by the hilarious debate about how one can pop a knee or a vein by pushing too hard while on the throne. So, it was agreed that eating lots fibre could help ward off any Elvis-like accidents. In that time, Flo went to pick up Oliviero from his place. We started the 2nd game against an exhausted Maitopojat. With 2 subs, we felt a bit more confident and this reflected in our game with some slick passing and neat goals. Will held onto the ball majestically and the opponents kept bouncing off him and into the stands. Oliviero's was his consistent self by throwing some 'panas', and clever through balls. Henry was on his typical Giggsy runs and punctuated them by some thunderous shots. The tireless Flo was as usual pressuring the opponents when they had the ball and made those darting runs on counter-attacks. Inspired by saturday's Real-Barca game, Petru was a rock on defence. He dived as a kamikaze in challenges and after the game he had a bloody shin to show for it. Though Catalin did not have much to do as in the first game, he pulled some amazing reflex saves in this game as well. Vik was running as a headless chicken. Game ended 10-2. |
