by Florin Dimulescu Played on Saturday, 26.09.2009, on Pyynikki artificial turf, on a great autumn day, the traditional Kultajalka-cup gathered together 4 teams: the organizer Gotham City, the traditionally present FC Koirat, the third year participant Foreign Legion and the new invitee FC Paitsio. Foreign Legion was the last years champion, but we could hardly get the 11 players for the tournament. The three games were played without having any substitutes, which lead to some players suffering from bad cramps during the last game of the day. The complete results of the tournament: 11.00 Foreign Legion FC - FC Paitsio 3-1 (FLFC goals by Vlad, Sami and Akseli) 12.20 Gotham City - Koirat FC 0-0 13.40 Koirat FC - FC Paitsio 0-4 15.00 Gotham City - Foreign Legion FC 1-3 (goals by Mikko, Bogdan and Akseli ) 16.20 Gotham City - FC Paitsio 3-3 17.40 Koirat FC - Foreign Legion FC 0-3 (goals by Florin, Akseli and Kai) Foreign Legion wins thus the tournament with 3 wins out of three. Here is the team: - the upper row, from left to right: Mikko, Bogdan, Oliverio, Kai, Sebastian, Petru, Seppo - the lower row, from left to right: Vlad, Florin, Akseli and Sami

by Henry Daw In March 2008, Foreign Legion FC trudged off to Ikaalinen for yet another stab at the ever elusive title. We had a thin squad of players, but nevertheless players capable of beating anyone if we collectively played to our potential. Vlad would be back in the goal, supported in defence by Kössi, Vik & Bogdan Barliga. The forward positions would be occupied by Henry, Florin, Vrajen & Bogdan Neagu. Not forgetting the brief 2-minute appearance made by Kai, before injury cruelly struck him yet again. Disappointment would strike a couple of months prior to the tournament when it emerged that we had not registered in time. No tournament, no final glory before FLFC is likely to lose one of it's founder members. However, by a twist of fate, one team pulled out of the tournament, leaving a slot free for FLFC to join. We had made it into the tournament by a stroke of luck, & with this we began to believe that this was finally to be FLFC's year. One over-enthusiastic team member even enthused that "this was our destiny, our time had come!" |

The news seemed too good to be true, and the delays in updating the official tables seemed to taunt FLFC all the more. But soon it was there in black and white for all to see. FLFC are sitting proudly at the top of Group D, fresh off the back of two impressive wins during the previous weekend.
It brings to an end an exciting and eventful first half of the season for the Legion. Besides a minor hiccup against FC Teräs, FLFC have been fairly solid, picking up the majority of the points on offer and playing some good attacking football. There have been some good goals scored and some controversy such as Olivero’s sending off. Florin Dimulescu is currently top scorer, although there are plenty of others giving him a run for his money.
All in all FLFC are in a good position, but the second half of the season is still to come and nothing has been won yet. Bring on the next match! |

35 goals scored, only 8 conceded, an undefeated record. But the system beats FLFC. 07.10.2007 Ikaalinen, Finland: FLFC lined out in the 11th Ikaalinen Futsal tournament, with high hopes of going one better than the second place that seemed to be their eternal destiny. Despite some frantic late changes to the squad, the team that headed west for Ikaalinen was a strong and experienced one, so there was a distinct air of quiet confidence in the dressing room as match-time approached.
Indeed it was FLFC who kicked off the tournament itself on Saturday morning, lining up against FC FoMe in the curtain-raiser. The opening exchanges were predictably cagy from both sides, but the game soon opened up and the Legion seized control. Thanks in part to some last minute training, the lads were warmed up and ready to attack from the first whistle, which they duly did. Without delay, their efforts were turned into shots, and soon shots into goals. The game finished at a comfortable 6-0. An easy start, but no signs that FLFC were about to take their foot off the gas.
